Pothys” was established 90 years back by K.V.Pothy Moopanar under the name “Pothy Moopanar” to sell Cotton Sarees, Dhoties and Towels woven in his own loom.
K V.P.Sadayandi Moopanar son of K.V.Pothy Moopanar was able to expand the whole process with a self-styled retail showroom at Srivilliputtur, re-christened as ‘POTHYS. That was the starting point of the Present day Pothy's
Pothys opened the largest showroom, a six storeyed building in Panagal Park, in the year 1999, with majestic ambiences and gleaming marble and imposing atrium. This is popularly known as an “Aalayam” for Silks and has become a well known one for the Chennaites.
